Comments from our Guest Books and emails

Here are some of our favourite feel-good comments written by our guests. We are most grateful for the generosity of their comments and are continually amazed at the thoughtfulness expressed.

"Thank you so much for a wonderful stay- we could not have picked a more idyllic setting for our 24th anniversary. Bed and breakfast was never like this as we knew it in England!!" Carol & Keith, Ontario

"In the clouds and the blue sky of the ceiling
In the trees whispering outside our windows
In the wind chimes tinkling beside the pool
In the gathering darkness as we sat on the porch
In the gracious conversation and delicious breakfasts
In the sounds of Vivaldi, Mozart, Brahms,
We found the serenity that we sought
And left savouring the peace of our uncluttered minds." Mary & Bernie, Alberta

"In combined musical careers of over 20 years, covering travel experiences and hotels of every sort all over the world, we have never had such a restful stay in such completely beautiful surroundings. Thank you for your warm hospitality and for allowing others to experience this slice of heaven!! P.S. Breakfast was extraordinary!!" Kerry and Melody, Ontario

"We would like to thank you, most sincerely, for making our trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake so very special and how much we enjoyed our very short stay in your home. It is difficult to say what we enjoyed the most as it was all so wonderful. We truly felt at home and wish that we didn't live so very far away - we would certainly be back as soon as we could.
We have raved to our friends about those wonderful breakfasts you provided - and most definitely the post-theatre truffles (you might have noticed that not many were left!). Your hospitality made the stay so memorable - the 'boys' really enjoyed the pool table, I loved having the bicycle there for me to meander along the quiet roads and down to the lake and my friend, Penny, just adored your wonderful garden. All this and I have not even mentioned how impressed we were with the bedrooms and how comfortable they were too.
We were sorry not to have met your husband but do send our very best wishes to you both. We wish you both continued success with the business. We are sure that with such perfection your reputation will spread worldwide and there will be no lack of visitors." Dennis, Anita, Mato and Penny, Great Britain

"Though we have had many Lakewinds experiences, each has been special and each has left us longing for our next visit. The combination of the beautiful setting, spectacular food and cherished friends is a gift from heaven! We look forward to our next visit." Chuck & Laurie, California

"After reading the poems and notes from other guests, it's almost impossible not to be repetetive in expressing our thanks for the wonderful experience we had at Lakewinds. LAKEWINDS REVIEW *****. Awed, we were Enjoyed, we did Relaxed, we are Return, we will!! Absolutely the best!!" Dick & Chery,Ontario

"We wanted to make sure you knew how much we enjoyed our stay with you at the Lakewinds this past week. Your hospitality was out of this world, and continued to exceed our expectations. The manor and the grounds are stunning and elegant, yet comfortable and welcoming. You delivered everything promised and much much more. The only surprises were good ones like complimentary bicycles for lend, and treats left for us at night. We appreciate the attention to detail and hard work it must take to provide such a wonderful place for people to unwind. We will recommend you highly to anyone traveling to Niagara-on-the-Lake and look forward to returning ourselves.
Thank you again, and all the best!" Chris & Leigh, Ontario

We immensely enjoyed our recent stay at Lakewinds, as well as our time spent in the quaint town of Niagara on the Lake. The breakfasts were elegant yet relaxed, and the hosts (Steve & Jane) went out of their way to make us feel at home throughout the day. The house & gardens are immaculately maintained, a pleasure to just spend time in. We've stayed at many B&B's around the U.S. and Canada, and Lakewinds is among the finest! Martha & Bob, Ohio

"Your graciousness combined with the elegance of your home makes this a truly wondrous vacation. Breakfast is beyond words - a treat for the eyes and the palate. We took particular enjoyment in your gardens, pool and vast information regarding any query- who else would know how to make a stone trough - or where to buy one. We thank you so very much for your hospitality and look forward to spending many years at Lakewinds." Pat & Jerry, New Jersey & Ohio

"It is in this place
That we start to trace
All the days of our lives together
As man and wife
We will remember
This beautiful B&B
As we proceed happily
Ever after... " Jennifer & Jason, Massachusetts

" You have created a warm, aesthetic & extremely comfy B&B - the best we've experienced in 26 years of coming to NOTL. Thank you." Florence and Bill, Ontario

" A man and his wife came from the south,
To spice up their lives in Niagara
What happened was this
'Twas a wonderful twist
Even better than a dose of Viagra!
Names withheld to protect the innocent

" L is for the Lockes, such beautiful hosts
A is for the ambience the Lakewinds, can boast
K is for the kitchen, a gourmet's delight
E is for elegance, and getting it right
W is for welcome, the gardens in bloom
I am for individuality in every room
N is for nowhere that's better to stay
D is for determined to come back again
S is for success to Jane and to Steve, you make it hard for these guests to leave"
Patsy & Daryl, Connecticut and England

"Thank you once again for a very memorable five days, for five Cordon Bleu breakfasts and for the most delightful surroundings anyone could wish for."
Graham & Wendy Jacob, Great Britain

The last week in June would not be the same without a visit to Lakewinds. We already have it on the calendar for next year! Steve and Jane have created an atmosphere of relaxed elegance that beckons the weary traveler to shed the stresses of everyday life. Turn off the cell phone and the computer...find a good book and relax in the garden and take a dip in the pool. Enjoy lively conversation around the breakfast table while you indulge in gourmet delights. Sit on the veranda and sip sherry before heading out to dinner. In the evening see a play, or three or four. "Journey's End", "Gypsy", and "The Constant Wife" were excellent this season. Rick and Jerry, Michigan

Your bed and breakfast and service exceeded our expectations. We did not know what to expect in a bed and breakfast, but it was wonderful.
We appreciated your very warm welcome and when we saw our room we were speechless. We never had seen such a beautiful bedroom. Especially the small details we appreciated and the view over the Golf course. You offered us a delicious breakfast and the other guests were very friendly to. We had a very special feeling about our stay with you and we will certainly come back in the future.

Jane and I had the pleasure of hosting a small dinner party for Sam Twining, the 9th generation head of the famous Twining Teas. He recited a short poem that a customer gave to one of his ancestors in the late 1700's. Here it is.
"It seems in some cases,
That Nature hath planned,
That names with their calling agree
For Twining the tea man,
Who lives in the Strand,
Would be Wining deprived of his tea."
