Shaw Festival 2007 Comments and Reviews-The Cassilis Engagement
steve 2007-07-05 13:02 The Shaw brochure tells us: "Adelaide Cassilis is a very smart woman. But when her beloved son excitedly informs her of his engagement to a totally “unsuitable†young woman from the city, she faces an age-old, thorny problem – how to change your child’s mind without him realizing it!
Without missing a beat, she swiftly plans an open-ended visit from the girl and her mother, suspecting the languorous charms of country life may be less than enchanting for either! The result is a delicious clash between city and country, old-style and new-vogue, as, with gritted teeth and gracious smile, Adelaide manoeuvres everyone through the slow-moving vicissitudes of genteel living. Will you like this play? Professional reviews are available online and in the media once the show is officially open. However, in our experience, many critics often write reviews that do not match at all with the reaction of our guests.
So, for a more candid reaction, we are asking for comments and reviews from the people who visit us! Jane and I go to all the plays and we will post as soon as we have attended. You too can post your overall rating about the play on a scale of 0 to 4 stars, along with any comments you may have.
